Cardiovascular
Improving outcomes of patients with chronic cardiac conditions, particularly structural and ischaemic heart disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias ‐ including:
- What are the pathological characteristics of heart failure with preserved ejection‐fraction and can novel imaging and modelling methodologies identify them early to allow patient stratification and assessment of new treatments?
- In complex congenital heart disease with Fontan palliation, can advanced imaging, computational modelling and in‐silico trials identify drugs that can improve cardiac efficiency during exercise and prevent the long‐term decline in cardiac performance?
- In ventricular tachycardia can we both characterise the underlying substrate and carry out curative ablation safely and effectively under MRI guidance?
- Can we non-invasively identify the vulnerable plaque that goes on to cause myocardial infarction?
